Not all Sunlight and Roses

Contrary. That would be the best word to decribe Oksana for the past 27 hours, 33 minutes and 16 seconds (but who's counting! :) ). Every seven-year-old has trying moments. But these experienced parents (read graying rapidly) feel certain that our little adoptee's repeated (read REPEATED) refusal to obey has been aggravated by being out of routine. In addition, her language skills still aren't developed enough to allow her to understand what's going to happen next despite her repeated requests about our plans.

What an important time for us to remember God's patience with us as we disobey him (read REPEATEDLY). One of my all-time favorite verses says,

"You are a God of forgiveness, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness." Nehemiah 9:17

Oksana needs us to be, with the impowerment of the Holy Spirit, imitators of the Glorious God of this verse.  Pray for us.
