Last night we arrived in the capitol city of the Central Asian country where Lissie will reside for the next several months.
This morning at breakfast we enjoyed the antics of 11-month-old Will. We shared the meal on the floor as is the custom in this part of the world.
Michael, who just turned nine, was watching the families three kittens.
Lissie's oldest student will be Anna who is 10.
Here Anna is in the food-preparation area of their kitchen. The white buckets on the right are the family's water filter system that they fill manually each day.
The plan for the day was to go into the center of town to begin the process of registering Lissie to study one of the local languages at the university (called an institute here).
Just before we left, Anna did some loving on her baby brother. While Will's dad, Scott, put the little guy's shoes on, Anna and her mom helped Lissie and me don head scarves in accordance with the culture.
Before we left, six-year-old Katie made sure her kitty had a drink in the yard basin. Then we were all ready for our adventure...
...more about that in the next post.
